Landscaping programs
By using water-efficient gardening techniques, you can
create a beautiful garden while cutting landscape water use from 20
to 80 percent. Whether youre planting a new landscape or renovating
an established one, the following Santa Clara Valley Water District
programs can help you conserve water.
For homeowners
Residential Irrigation System Hardware Rebate Program
The District’s Residential Irrigation System Hardware Rebate Program (RISHRP) is a rebate program which has been developed to help residents save water and money by increasing the efficiency of their irrigation system. The program offers rebates on new efficient irrigation hardware of up to $1,000 per home. Click here for more information.
Water Efficient Landscape Rebate Program (WELRP)
The Water Efficient Landscape Rebate Program is designed to assist homeowners and commercial, industrial and institutional property owners by offering a rebate for the removal of thirsty turf grass if replaced with low-water using plants and/or permeable hardscape. Simple changes in plant type and irrigation methods can greatly reduce the water required for an attractive landscape. There are many plants that use surprisingly little water; many flowering shrubs, annuals, perennials and trees that once established require only sporadic watering or none at all. For more details, see our WELRP web page.
Water Efficient Landscaping Workshops
Offered each spring to Santa Clara County residents, this FREE workshop series covers practical information such as water-saving garden
design, plant selection and landscape maintenance. The classes are taught
by landscape experts.
Water-Wise House Calls
Are you concerned about high water bills and would you like to use less
water? Sign up today for a FREE House Call. House Calls are available
for Santa Clara County residents. Trained water surveyors will come
out to your home or apartment complex and spend at least an hour with
you, reviewing your water use, providing low-flow showerheads and aerators
(if needed), and sugesting water-wise recommendations - including an
irrigation schedule for your landscape.

Irrigation Technical
Assistance Program (ITAP)
Since 1994 the Santa Clara Valley Water District has been helping landscape
managers improve their irrigation efficiency. Through the innovative
Irrigation Technical Assistance Program (ITAP), auditors perform free
site evaluations to assist property owners in better managing their
water use. Our audits show potential savings of up to $1,000 per year
per acre of landscape.
Learn more about the ITAP program, click here.
Irrigation System Hardware Rebate Program (ISHRP)
Do you have over an acre of irrigated landscape? Would you like to upgrade your irrigation system, but are worried about upgrade costs? ISHRP offers a rebate on your hardware costs which will help you increase your sites irrigation efficiency. ISHRP offers a rebate of 50 percent of the hardware costs (up to $4,000 per site) for implementing your site-specific recommendations resulting from your participation in the Irrigation Technical Assistance Program (ITAP).
A more efficient irrigation system means healthier plants, while also cutting water use 20-80 percent. Find out what you need to get started with the ISHRP Program on our ISHRP page.
